Sheep shearing – for my city slicker friends!!

Amazing how these sheep shearers simply grab the sheep and make it sit, then starts with the tummy as this wool is normally more dirty from touching the grass, and then go on to get the rest off.  All over the world there are competitions held for the fastest sheep shearing and I believe it can be done in under a minute!!

The wool then goes to a special facility where it gets graded (I touched it and it was still so warm from the sheep’s body heat!!!), and then, my dear friends, it gets processed to make the jerseys and coats you and I wear.  Fascinating, won’t you say??

About suletta

Fell in love again at age 50! And followed my man to Zanzibar, for him to set up a dairy farm. I managed to travel into Africa a few times in my life, always loving it and experience the "fever" that grips you on African soil - the one that especially the Europeans now and in years gone by, suffer from. Except I am an African by birth - a South African. A Mzungu. So I discovered at this late stage in my life (not that I feel old!) that some people find my babblings about life interesting, and I quote: "live their lives vicariously through me".
